A high point in vintage footwear.
Here's some vintage motocross boots made by Alpinestars in the 70's. These were sold under the name Hi-point and carried model names like champions or super victory. They were also worn by Goose in the film Mad Max. Original Hi-points are still very desirable and rather cool to this day.
Rice O Rama
This year's Rice-O-Rama event went off with out a hitch despite the looming clouds all day long. As I wound up in a basement working on one of my own ratty Hondas I didn't make the long trip up to Mass, but here's some pics from a local rider. Sorry I missed it cause I've scored some great deals at the swap meet in the past.
Spark!
The monthly Fuel, Air, Spark European motorcycle night will be happening tonight in Newtown, CT at the Blue Z coffee house. The rumor is that some of the crew from last night's Royal Enfield demo rides might be swinging by with their bikes. As always pints to follow if you're up for it.
Rice-O-Rama
Even though Holeshot is just around the corner on the 22nd I wanted to remind New england riders of Rice-O-rama. It's the Japanese vintage bike meet and swap and it's taking place in Mass. on Sept. 12. For more info go here. Always a good show.
Holeshot
Earlier I had posted about the brooklyn invitational, and now I finally found the info for Holeshot. This is a yearly show put on by Works Engineering and NYC vin moto. In the past it has been called detonation, brand X and other names. Why the mystery, let's head to Brooklyn and find out.
From Rhinebeck with sunburn.
Returned from the vintage motorcycle show in Rhinebeck, NY. Slightly poorer but with nothing in tow. Great turn out for vendors and show bikes. If you get a chance head down Saturday or Sunday and check out what's left.
Rhinebeck
Barely rested up after getting back from the Bennington Triumph bash and i'm off riding again. This weekend will be the Rhinebeck, NY grand national meet. Mostly pre-60s vintage bikes. Every year i'm shocked by how many amazing old bikes roll in. There are literally dozens of board track racers and plenty of spare parts for those who know what they are looking at. As for me I just gawk and take photos. See ya there. http://www.rhinebecknationalmeet.com/
The nicest people.
I'll have to admit to being a bit bias toward Honda bikes. Having owned 4 so far I have a lot of great memories on them and although I wink and flirt at other models they keep me coming back. So a current desire is one of these rare beauties. For a short time (mostly in the 50's) Honda produced motorcycles under the Benly name. Why are they better than a dream or black bomber, couldn't tell ya. Why do I want one so badly, probably cause I assume I can't have one.
