The Yamaha FZ-16 is a motorcycle manufactured by the India Yamaha Motor Company. Inspired by the "Naked" bike concept, FZ 16 is modeled after its more popular counterpart the Yamaha FZ-1 although sporting a drastically scaled down engine more suited to the Indian roads. The bike is marketed in India under the slogan Lord of the Streets. Comes in three colors namely lava red, midnight black and flaming orange of which Lava Red is the most popular. It retails for an ex-showroom price of Rs.65,000(all over India). The bike is the second biggest launch for YMI (Yamaha Motor India) which set the sales chart shooting up after the R-15 a scaled-down derivative of the super bike YZF R-1. FZ 16 is the only production bike in India which uses 140/60 size rear radial tubeless tyre being the widest rear tyre sported by any Indian bike as of 2010. Soon after its launch, the FZ 16 has become immensely popular with the younger generation due to its International stylings, macho and robust looks. The bike has won Bike of the Year Award from UTVi / Autocar, Zigwheels and Business Standard Motoring and Viewers Choice award at UTVi & Autocar India Awards 2009.
