Asphalt Killers

Just catching up on my reading over at Hell For Leather and noticed Wes wrote up the new Deth Killers Asphalt resistant jeans. Basically these have a kevlar weave instead of panels and are a skinny jean. Someone buy me these and i'll do things... indecent things.

Didn't know you were hip.

Always in fashion, the biker jacket is on the runway yet again. Junya Watanabe's latest collection features looks like this.

Um, really?

For a moment there I was running to the calendar to see if it's was April fools but various different publications insist that Paris Hilton is starting her own 125 MotoGP race team. This would be like me starting my own designer handbag line, but then again I don't have piles of expendable money lying about. There are much worse things the rich could be spending their money on.

Not quite a helmet.

While doing a search for something other than motorcycles (for once) they turned up anyways. As I was admiring some new hats from the clothing company Brixton I noticed they teamed up with Deus Ex Machina for two custom caps. This photo featuring both the new Brood cap and a rather rad old cb750 wound up in Brixton's 2010 look book.

Like boots but lighter.

Most everyone in the motorcycle community or at least the vintage motorcycle community knows the name Lewis Leathers. As makers of some of the finest classic leather jackets they have a rich heritage that still rings true today. Occasionally they offer some fashion pieces as well. Here's the Comme Des Garcons sneaker by Lewis Leathers. Also available in red and white, but who cares.

Motorcycles in fashion....and court

Seems like fashion companies are using more than just bikes in the backgrounds of their ads to sell product now. According to the L.A. Times designer fashion label Alexander McQueen (shoe maker for Lady Gaga)  is being sued by The Hells Angels for use of a winged skull design very similar to their own. Could be a coincidence expect for the fact that "Hells Angels" is actually written on some of the product. This should be interesting.

Bonjour

I'm not quite sure wether the European fashion industry is currently trending on vintage motorcycles or I'm just becoming aware of a long standing tradition of good taste. With the recent Chanel Cafe racer and multiple magazines featuring a variety of top models on top bikes sometimes I feel that I was born in the wrong locale. Enjoy these examples while I google info on an overseas work visa.

Waxed Nostalgia

This somewhat wet morning i'd like to pay my respect to Belstaff clothing. They started out in England in 1924 making waterproof jackets. Their waxed cotton jackets were used by couriers and motorcyclist early on to stay dry and they eventually became an icon being featured in classic 50's and 60's motorcycle movies. From Che Guevara wearing one during his motorcycle adventures in South America to Ewan McGregor sporting a custom Belstaff in Long way down they have never gone out of style. The down side is expect to pay about $400 for an original and more than double that for a new one. Then again how many jackets have remained functional and stylish for almost a Century?
