The cruiser is a very popular type of motorcycle in the United States. It came to surface in the 1930s and continued its dominance up to the 1960s. The riders’ hands and feet are up and the spine is straight when he rides a cruiser. This position is deemed to be much more comfortable during long drives across the country.

Road Bikes

Road bikes are very popular especially in developing countries. They are the main mode of transportation in countries such as in Pakistan and India. The road bike is mainly designed to be driven on paved roads. However, it is also used as the main component for transportation used in countries in Southeast Asia where these road bikes are converted to three-wheeled “tricycles.”

Touring Motorcycles

Touring motorcycles are basically designed to be able to address the need of a long-distance motorcycle driving or for commuting to and from the office. The touring bikes are usually equipped with luggage compartments on the sides. There are touring bikes out there which have other amenities such as air-conditioning and heaters, CD players, windshields and wipers and GPS systems!

Street Bikes

Street bikes are also called “naked” bikes, which is basically the standard type of motorcycle. The design of the street bike emphasizes the fundamental components of the machine and all the other components are stripped off. It became popular in 1970s but mellowed down in the 1980s. It surfaced again in the 1990s and it seems that it is here to stay.

Scooters

These are sometimes called small motorcycles. They usually have small wheels accompanied by cute designs but they can be as or more powerful than the other motorcycles out there.
